For those who enjoy culture and history, the 8-day Cultural Programme is a must.
Visiting all cultural locations on the Maltese islands, visitors experience Malta, Gozo and the surrounding coastline.
Some of the highlights of this programme are visits to:
-
Valletta – the present day capital, its theatres, palaces and Cathedral
-
Mdina – the old capital and referred to as “The Silent City” with its Cathedral, bastions and amazing vistas.
-
Prehistoric temples – dating further back then Stonehenge.
-
Mosta Church – with the 3rd largest unsupported dome in Europe that was pierced with a bomb during the second world war and miraculously did not detonate
-
The Three Cities – Senglea, Cospicua and Vittoriosa, the three harbour towns, older than Valletta and the first residence for the knights of St. John, seeped in history and legend
-
Typical Fishing Villages – the main one being Marsaxklokk where one can see the fishermen preparing their nets as in times gone by
-
Gozo – including its citadel, prehistoric temples, its coastal features and villages
-
Harbour Cruises – no trip to Malta would be complete without a voyage around the two main harbours – Marsamxett and Grand Harbour
-
Blue Grotto – lying beneath the cliffs of Wied iz-Zurrieq, and reached only by sea, is an extraordinary and beautiful network of caves with crystal azure water. In the right weather conditions, visitors may board a typical Maltese fishing boat and go into the Grotto itself.
